Monday 12 August

Create your own crop mark

  • 1pm to 4pm.

Join a real archaeologist to make your own crop marks!

Find out how archaeologists use pictures taken from space to spot changes in the grass and crops. Crops grow differently depending on what is beneath the ground. This can mean there might be and exciting new site lying just beneath the surface for us to discover. You can create your own crop mark and take it home.

Tuesday 13 August

50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing

  • 10.30am to 12 noon.

  • 1.30pm to 3pm.

Ever fancied trying some science yourselves? Wondered about what you can see in the night sky? Or wondered how the things around you work?

The Department of Physics from the University of Surrey will be at Woking Library to help with these questions and more. Here you can come and ask us any physics or astronomy questions, have a go at some science experiments and get hands on with physics through everyday objects such as Lego.

Science storytime and play for pre-schoolers aged (about) 3 to 5.

Join our storyteller for a tale about a girl called Molly who wants to learn about the friendly moon in the night time sky. Suitable for little ones and grownups who are prepared to sing, play and have fun together as we learn about our nearest neighbour in space. Children must be accompanied by adults.

Be inspired and learn how to sculpt a lovely celestial character using only a felting needle, a handful of wool tops and a little imagination.
