We've reached over 2000 toy donations

Published: 19/12/2022

We're thrilled to announce that we have received over 2000 toy donations through our 'The Forgotten Toys' Christmas appeal. Last week we filled the steps in Henry Plaza with all these toys to show the incredible volume of toys we have received.

The display was possible due to the immense generosity of our customers who have donated. The toys will be donated to local charity Sebastian’s Action Trust this week, who will distribute them to new owners to give them the opportunity of a loving new home in time for Christmas and beyond.

The donations drive was setup this year in a bid to give something back to those who might otherwise go without this Christmas, and to support those feeling the pinch due to the cost-of-living crisis. The focus of the appeal has been donating pre-loved toys that are no longer used, so that they have the opportunity to be loved once again by a new owner. However, we have also seen a massive amount of additional kindness with people buying gifts on site to donate to the appeal – showing just how important ‘giving back’ is for people this year.

The appeal was set to finish at the end of last week, but due to popular interest, is being extended until the final day of the grotto, Saturday 24th December.

Santa’s grotto is open daily in Central Square at intervals between 10am to 5pm until Saturday 24th December (inclusive). The experience is free and Santa will provide a little gift to every visitor, as well as memories to last a lifetime. Toy donation is not required to visit Santa.
